BIOGRAPHY

Freelance session drummer Charlie began his journey at the age of six, progressing to formal drum tuition at ten years old with Barry Cook (The Drifters, Bjorn Again, McFly), and achieving distinction marks for Grades 3 through 8 of the Trinity Rock and Pop Drum exam syllabus.

 

Following this, Charlie studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey, from 2019 to 2024, honing his craft under acclaimed industry professionals Toby Drummond, Neil Bullock and Harry Younger, and graduating with both a BA (Hons) in Music Industry Practice, First Class (2021-2023) and a Distinction MA in Creative Industries Futures (2023-2024).

 

Charlie's journey as a session drummer has taken him to venues across London and the South East, including Olby's Soul Cafe (Margate), the Boileroom (Guildford), and The Spice of Life (London). Counting such industry-acclaimed drummers including Stewart Copeland, Larry Mullen Jr., Mick Fleetwood, and Ringo Starr amongst his professional and musical influences, Charlie describes himself as a 'lover of all genres'.

 

This is especially evident in his extensive collaborations across Rock, Pop, Reggae, Ska, Metal, Funk, Rap, Hip-Hop, and Afrojazz, from performing with rapper Twivee at the BBC Introducing Live Lounge to supporting Australian ska band Sunny Coast Rude Boys at SkaGate 2025.

 

Charlie has accrued extensive session recording experience, having recorded in Studio B of Metropolis Studios (Chiswick), The Hive Rooms (Horley), Powerhouse Studios (Addlestone), and Dragonfly Studios (Reigate).
